Built around the songs Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan have written about war, this live performance combines music, original animation, and gritty visual storytelling into the journey of a soldier who leaves, serves, and comes home battling PTSD.
Tonight’s performance draws from only a handful of the hundreds of songs they have written. Selections we believe help illuminate the human cost of war.
In shaping our selected songs into the narrative of our show, artistic liberties have been taken. War Songs reflects our own interpretation and does not presume to represent the intentions or perspectives of Waits or Brennan.
